Thai Confucius Institutes’ Conference Concludes

Phuket, July 17th-18th-- The Half-Year On-site Conference on Working Exchange cum the Model Confucius Institute Commendation was held at the Confucius Institute at Prince of Songkla University.

Pang Li, representative of Hanban (Office of Chinese Language Council International) in Thailand, and Chinese Directors of the 12 Thai Confucius Institutes were present at the conference. Prof. Ma Zhi, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Prince Songkla University, introduced the work of the institute and its experiences on formulating the budget and the final accounting. Other directors summarized the work in the first half of the year and unveiled the working plan for the second half, including equipment purchase and installation for the Chinese Culture Corner, the Chinese textbook exhibition and the training of local Chinese teachers. They also discussed the training work for teachers sent to Thailand by the Chinese government and the training for local Thai teachers in China and other issues.

The directors of Confucius Institutes exchanged views at the meeting in a warm atmosphere. The meeting offered a good chance for the directors to exchange experience, understand each other and learn from each other.

So far the work of Confucius Institutes in Thailand has been proceeding smoothly along with the gradual improvement of the rules and systems. The Chinese and Thai parties, through working together, gained great achievements. The Confucius Institute enjoys a rising reputation in Thailand and plays a more and more important role in the society. It significantly boosts the cultural and educational exchange and cooperation between China and Thailand.
