The Inaugural Tour Group of the 2010 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for German High School Students Embarks Upon Its Journey

Berlin, July 19 of 2010 –Chargés d’affaires Li Nianping from the Chinese Embassy in Germany organized a grand farewell get-together at Berlin Tegel Airport for 75 teachers and students participating in the 2010 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for German High School Students.

The summer camp is being hosted by Hanban and the Chinese Embassy in Germany, 12 Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms selected camp members. Members of the inaugural tour group were selected from teachers and students in the Confucius Institute at the Free University of Berlin, the Confucius Institute at the University of Leipzig, the Confucius Institute at the University of Hamburg and the Confucius Institute in Hannover. Between July 20 and August 2, members will visit Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters in Beijing, and subsequently attend a number of sporting and cultural exchange activities in Shandong as well as exploring Chinese language and culture in the hometown of Confucius. 

The second tour group consists of teachers and students from Confucius Institutes/Classrooms in southern German cities such as Munich and Nuremberg. They will visit the Shanghai World Expo between July 30th and August 11th and attend exchange activities with teenagers in southern China’s Anhui province.

In 2009, Hanban/Confucius Institute invited 105 German middle school students to attend the Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for German High School Students. This year, the second summer camp is being held with the aims of boosting friendship and exchanges between the young people of the two countries and promoting German students’ understanding of China.
