Writing Chinese characters

Portugal, July 3rd, 2010 - A grand summer cultural and artistic festival for the community kicked off at NIP Institute, Lisbon. Representatives from China, Portugal, Brazil, South Africa, India, Turkey, Morocco, and Japan joined in the event showcasing various global cultures in the settings of an historical 100 year old campus surrounded by flowers and elderly trees. Prof. Chuo Jingzhong, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Lisbon, a Chinese teacher from the institute, and associate professor Wang Jincheng were also invited to the event.

With the theme "Cross-Culturalism and Art", the festival consisted of 2 sessions, including a cultural exhibition and an artistic performance. Each of the exhibitors gave a cultural exhibition and excellent artistic performance. Chinese calligraphy and a Chen style Tai Chi performance from the institute impressed audience members. Together with 2 volunteers from Macao, Prof. Wang Jincheng used up all of their Xuan papers to write Chinese names for members of the public. Prof. Chuo Jingzhong gave the Portuguese an elegant Chen style Tai Chi performance featuring melodious music.
