The Confucius Institute at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University Holds Celebration for 35th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Ties between China and Thailand

Thailand, July, 2nd, 2010 - In order to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Thailand, the Confucius Institute at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University held a series of events. Over 100 people including Madame Sudala(pinyin), Vice President of the university, Linda(pinyin), President of the College of Arts and Humanities, Sudipeng(pinyin), Thai Director of the Confucius Institute as well as the institute teachers and students participated in the event.

The event consisted of 3 sections, including a historical picture exhibition regarding the establishing of diplomatic ties between China and Thailand, an exhibition for Chinese books and a traditional Chinese artwork exhibition. The picture exhibition consisted of several topics, such as photos from around the period of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, high-level visits, Chinese Ambassadors to Thailand, educational exchanges between China and Thailand, economic and trade exchanges between China and Thailand, in addition to cultural and sporting exchanges. Plentiful pictures and detailed information allowed for a retrospective of the achievements made by the two countries during the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties through various fields including politics, economics, trade, culture and education.

In addition, various Chinese books, including the latest Chinese teaching materials, reference books, cultural books, children's books and electronic materials, donated by Hanban, were showcased during the exhibition, attracting large numbers of Thai students and overseas Chinese students. Many teachers and students were drawn to the Chinese calligraphy, Chinese knots and paper-cuts at the traditional Chinese artwork exhibition. The event has also given a historical retrospective of friendly exchanges between China and Thailand and has helped the youth of the two countries to gain mutual understanding and forge friendship by the way of cultural exchange.
