Turkish Teenagers Attend the "Experiencing Chinese" Summer Camp

Between June 27th and July 3rd, Turkish Confucius Institute at Bogazici University and China's Huawei Corporation launched an "Experiencing Chinese" summer camp in Istanbul.

The 7 day summer camp attracted 27 youths aging between 9 and 16 from the Turkish capital Ankara and the largest city Istanbul. Camp members have learned from the Chinese Paradise Chinese program and some Chinese Wu Shu boxing was taught by professional martial art teachers from Shanghai University; in the restaurant, kids made their own dumplings and learned how to use chopsticks; in the Confucius Institute, children took various Chinese cultural classes, including tea culture, Chinese music, Chinese history and Chinese festivals. The summer camp was a brand new life experience for the members.

The summer camp received the vigorous support of the Chinese Consulate General in Istanbul, Director He Jiangchuan from the division of political and cultural affairs hosted the opening ceremony and presented camp members with Shanghai World Expo souvenirs During the summer camp volunteers from China and universities in Turkey built up a bridge for exchange between the young people of the two countries.

The summer camp is the Confucius Institute's first cooperative experience with a Chinese invested company and local communities.
