Thailand, December, 19, 2009 – Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, Guan Mu, and Hanban representative to Thailand, Mr. Pang Li, visited volunteer Chinese teachers at the Khon Kaen Hua Chiao School and the Confucius Institute at Khon Kaen University.

Accompanied by Chinese teachers, Ambassador Guan Mu looked at students’ calligraphy works and compositions in the Khon Kaen Hua Chiao School. On behalf of Hanban, Ambassador Guan Mu also donated 1,000 books to the school. Afterwards, Guan gave a New Year’s greeting to over 20 volunteer Chinese teachers in Khon Kaen. Guan mentioned that with the growth of China’s international status and the development of Sino-Thai relations, Chinese teaching is booming in Thailand. In addition, he said that Chinese teaching has received strong support from the Chinese government and Hanban. Currently, more than 1,000 volunteer Chinese teachers have been dispatched in Thailand, and this hardly meets the demand for Chinese teachers in Thailand. Ambassador Guan pinned his hopes to the volunteer teachers, telling them that they must seize every opportunity to apply their abilities. In response, every volunteer teacher expressed that they will try their best to meet expectations. At last, Ambassador Guan visited teachers and students at the Confucius Institute at Khon Kaen University.

Moreover, Ambassador Guan will visit volunteer Chinese teachers from ten schools in northeastern Thailand, such as Udon Thani and Nong Khai.
