The Japanese Confucius Institute at kansai gaidai University Launches its Second Chinese Teacher Training Workshop
Osaka, May 16th – the Confucius Institute at kansai gaidai University and Kansai Chinese Teacher Communication Association held its second Chinese teacher training class. Around 40 Chinese teachers from Kansai attended the training.
The training class involved two sections. In the morning, Prof. Hu Shiyun of Japan’s Shitennoji University systematically elaborated upon the history of the scheme of the Chinese phonetic alphabet, the relationship between the scheme of the phonetic alphabet and Chinese orthography and related teaching issues. Prof. Hu explained all kinds of concepts related to the scheme of Chinese phonetic alphabet from a theoretical perspective; so as to enable students to understand the how; and endeavor to know the why, in their future teaching career.
During the afternoon, Prof. Zheng Tiangang from the Chinese Teaching Training Center at the Confucius Institute served as the lecturer. Prof. Zheng vividly explained issues of Chinese vocabulary teaching, using rich examples and offering detailed analysis from the perspective of classroom experience, focusing on the core issue “what to teach in vocabulary teaching”.
The two professors’ lectures were admired and praised by students. Such short term training patterns combining theory with practice have enabled students to learn fundamentals of Chinese language and better understand and grasp some principles and skills in teaching Chinese as a foreign language from a practiced perspective.
