Chinese Ambassador to Columbia Attends a Tea Party for Chinese Government Dispatched Teachers and Volunteers

Bogota, May 18th afternoon – H.E. Gao Zhengyue, Chinese Ambassador in Columbia attended the tea party held for Chinese government dispatched teachers and volunteers. The party was hosted by Shen Lisuo, Cultural officers from the Chinese Embassy, Wang Jian, Political Counselor and Lv Desheng, Cultural Counselor.

Ambassador Gao said after introducing some basics of the climate of  China-Columbia relations that this year brings the 30th anniversary of China-Columbia diplomatic ties, the two countries have developed a stable relationship and expanded cooperation in many areas. In recent years the promotion of Chinese has been rapidly developed and Columbian people’s enthusiasm for Chinese is soaring, there have been three Confucius Institutes established in Columbia. Ambassador Gao also said that he is pleased to see more volunteers involved in the course of Chinese language promotion and hopes that the 14 volunteer teachers cherish their opportunity, study hard and make further contribution to Chinese education.

Political counselor Wang Jian introduced aspects of the current political situation in Columbia; in particular in relation to the presidential election, the counselor hopes that new teachers can reinforce their understandings of Columbia and acclimatize to the environment as quickly as possible.

Cultural Counselor Lv Desheng introduced a basic guide to culture and education in Columbia, especially in relation to Confucius Institutes and Chinese teaching in order to allow participants a better understanding of Chinese promotion.

Teachers and volunteers shared with each other experience on teaching conditions, working experience and their own thoughts, they indicated that they will try their best to promote Chinese language. Hanban dispatched volunteer Chinese teachers also reported their work, study and feelings about their lives in the past two months, stating that they will go all out in completing their mission.
