Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Held a Feast For Chinese Specialists the Faculty of the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University

Bangkok, May 4th evening – Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn met with Prof. Wang Ruojiang and Dr. Ji Chuanbo, two Chinese specialists hailing from Chinese Peking University at the Lotus Pool Palace and held a feast for them. The faculty of the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University also joined in the event.

Princess Sirindhorn extended her appreciation to the two specialists for their offering training programs for local university Chinese teachers, saying that the training programs will play important roles in enriching Chinese teaching knowledge and methodology of Thai teachers and improve their Chinese teaching quality. Princess Sirindhorn also spoke of her hope that the training programs would be successful and spoke very highly of the Confucius Institute’s achievements over the last 3 years while encouraging the faculty to make more efforts for the further development of Chinese teaching in Thailand.

During the evening banquet, Princess Sirindhorn, whose Chinese pronunciation was admired by the guests, communicated with the two Chinese specialists and the teachers cheerfully. Princess Sirindhorn introduced her Chinese learning experience, saying that one must pay strict attention in regards to their articulation when learning Chinese pronunciation because there are strict regulations on breathing and gestures when speaking Chinese. Sometimes the teachers would ask Princess Sirindhorn to stand up to practice her Chinese pronunciation. Princess Sirindhorn is very strict with herself in Chinese learning and she also shared with the Chinese teachers some of her own Chinese teaching methods.
