The Confucius Institute at Suez Canal University Holds a Workshop for Local Chinese Teachers

Recently, the Confucius Institute at Suez Canal University held a workshop for local Chinese teachers in order to improve their Chinese teaching ability through practical training. The workshop offered specific training about pre-class preparations (acquiring teaching materials, collecting data and writing teaching plans), teaching process design (blackboard-writing, class activities organization etc.) and question answering in class. After the teaching training ended, the students were asked to attend mock trial lectures and watch others’ trial lectures. The Chinese teachers from the Confucius Institute evaluated the teachers and pointed out places where they needed to improve.

The Chinese teaching workshop for local teachers received a very warm welcome. The local teachers said they thought the workshop has improved their teaching ability. The Confucius Institute has plans to select some of the excellent students from the teachers who attended the workshop to participate in intensive pre-service training program in order to begin their services in the Confucius Institute from the summer of 2010.
