“A Dialogue between Chinese & Arabic Civilizations — International Language and Culture Seminar” Kicks off in Cairo
A international seminar entitled “A Dialogue between Chinese & Arabic Civilizations— International Language and Culture Seminar” was held jointly by the Confucius Institute at Cairo University and the Chinese Department of Cairo University (CU) in Cairo on May 6th. Wang Kejian, Minister Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Egypt, Dr. Ahmed Abdallah Zayed, the Dean of Cairo University’s Faculty of Liberal Arts as well as well-known professors and scholars from China’s Peking University and Chinese Departments of universities in Egypt attended the opening ceremony.
Minister Counselor Wang Kejian, Dean Dr. Ahmed Abdallah Zayed and the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at CU stated that China and Egypt are both world known ancient civilizations that have histories spanning over thousands of years, although they are far away from each other, their friendship and cultures have run a long course.
During the seminar, participants were involved in in-depth discussion of issues such as the methodologies and concepts in Chinese and Arabic teaching, the distinctions and amalgamation of eastern and western cultures, Chinese-Arabic cultural exchanges, comparison of Chinese and Arabic languages and cultures and translation of Chinese and Arabic languages.
In recent years, the collaboration and exchanges between China and Egypt in cultural and educational matters have been reinforced and expanded day after day. Cairo University, Ainshams University , Al-Azhar University, Suez Cannal University have established Chinese Departments and Chinese promotion has made unprecedented progress.
