The Preliminary Round of the 3rd "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students Passes Successfully

Singapore, May 15th -The Preliminary Round for the 3rd "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students was held at the Assembly Hall of the Confucius School in Singapore.

This year's competition caused great impact creating enthusiasm amongst a large number of local schools. After heated competition between schools, 26 candidates were elected to enter the final stage of the preliminary round and experienced the three competition segments including: a speech competition, a Chinese artistic talent show and a Q&A session.

During the Chinese talent show segment, candidates staged flute, martial arts and Guzheng performances which were rewarded with tremendous applause from the audience. After fierce competition, Candidate He Jinyang from Huaqiao Middle School, Candidate Zhang Jiayu and Chen Weiying from Deming Public Middle School won the first, second and third prizes and have been selected to enter the semi-finals and final competition held in China.

The "Chinese Bridge" competition is attracting greater and greater attention from schools, parents and students: it has become a platform for Singapore's youth people to test their Chinese knowledge and learn about China. The "Chinese Bridge" has illustrated the limitless charm of Chinese language and bore witness to a perfect amalgamation of diverse cultures.
