The Confucius Institute at Mae Fah Luang University Holds a Closing Ceremony for its 2010 Primary and Secondary Chinese Teachers Training Class
April 25th - The Confucius Institute at Mae Fah Luang University held a closing ceremony for its 2010 Primary and Secondary Chinese Teachers Training Class of the Basic Education Commission. At the ceremony, the Dean of the Confucius Institute issued certificates to the trainees.
The training sessions began on April 1st and lasted for nearly one month with a total of 150 class hours. More than 60 trainees were school leaders and talented teachers selected by the Basic Education Commission of Thailand from various primary and secondary schools. Some of them were young teachers who could speak good Chinese and they desired to gain more teaching experience. Some were school leaders and they wanted to learn more about teaching methodologies since they planned to open Chinese courses in their schools. There were also non-Chinese teachers who were very experienced in teaching and wanted to double as Chinese teachers during the training. Following the lessons, teachers of the Confucius Institute often held discussions with the trainees on Chinese teaching methodologies and how to teach Chinese in a Thai-speaking environment. The trainees were divided into 3 classes according to their Chinese level. The teaching content included basic Chinese, intermediate Chinese, basic oral classes, intermediate oral classes, basic reading and writing, as well as intensive reading.
