Ⅱ. Theme

Chinese theme: 魅力汉语，精彩世博

English theme: Charming Chinese, Splendid EXPO

Ⅲ. Purpose

This competition intends to provide a platform for adolescent students to show their Chinese proficiency, learn from one another and conduct exchanges, in a bid to stimulate their enthusiasm and interest in learning Chinese and enhance their understanding about Chinese language and culture.

Hunan Province Education Department with Hunan Radio and Television Bureau

Hunan Base for International Promotion of Chinese Language

Ⅵ. Organizer

An organizing committee will be set up by the sponsor and the host, which will be responsible for making decisions and making assessments on major issues.

Ⅶ. Participants

Foreign college students or postgraduates under 30 years of age with foreign nationalities or overseas-born Chinese whose first language is not Chinese.

Winners of the previous competition are not allowed to participate in the competition for twice in a row.

a) Chinese language proficiency: Communication, reading and writing abilities;

b) Knowledge of China:

c) Chinese cultural skills: Chinese songs, music, dance, folk arts, acrobatics, musical instruments; calligraphy, Chinese paintings, Chinese paper-cutting, Chinese martial arts, etc.

d) Comprehensive learning ability:

Chiefly examine students’ comprehensive learning ability and practical application ability.
