Consul Yang Baozhen Gives 1st Lecture in the Entering China Lecture Series

France, March, 13, 2010 - The Confucius Institute of Alsace held a lecture for the Entering China Series. And Consul Yang Baozhen from China’s Consulate General in Stras was invited to give the lecture on the topic “Chinese Women’s Issues Yesterday & Today” for French learners.

Consul Yang Baozhen started by talking about how the social status of women has risen during last 60 years, with more and more women are taking an active role in the economic situation. She also talked about several aspects of women’s equal rights, through the subjects of marriage and the family, children education and retirement. These topics aroused great interest among learners. Consul Yang demonstrated the great changes that Chinese women have gained in several decades which are unprecedented. After the presentation, she answered learners’ questions.

Learners greatly interest in the lecture

Liu Haifeng, Chinese director of the institute said that most French learners are interested in Chinese culture. The institute was honored to have Consul Yang to present as the first speaker for the Entering China series. The institute will hold more lectures about China in the future.
