Symposium for Chinese Teachers Held at Chinese Embassy in Singapore
Singapore, July 26, 2009 –A symposium for Chinese teacher representatives was held by the Education Office at the Chinese Embassy in Singapore. The symposium aimed at helping young Chinese teachers to adjust themselves.
Counselor Zhou Jianping gave a speech. He said that the Chinese teachers have played a very important role in Chinese education in Singapore. This group is drawing increasing attention. He believes that the Chinese teachers will make good efforts and be successful.
Several experienced Chinese teachers were invited to the symposium, such as Yu Lin, head of the department for Chinese from the Catholic High School, and Wang Xueping, senior teacher from Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School. Their diligence won the respect of teachers and students. These experienced Chinese teachers advised the young latecomers to pay attention to self-discipline and accumulation of experience for personal development.
A liaison group was formed for the teachers to forge links with others in Singapore. The service-oriented group will give a series of courses for teachers in their free time. It will also help the embassy to organize some activities, such as Teachers’ Day and Spring Festival celebrations.
Chairman Yao Peizhen and Secretary-General Lin Zhennan from the Singapore Chinese Teachers’ Union were present at the symposium. They also provided more information on English training, professional training on teaching methods and promotion.
They all expressed that they benefited a lot from the symposium.
