Chinese Embassy in Romania Holds Seminar on Chinese Teaching

From May 23 to 25, 2009, the Education Section at the Chinese Embassy in Romania organized a seminar on Chinese language teaching. Chinese Ambassador Liu Zengwen attended the meeting and met with the participating teachers. Also present were Zhang Wei, Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute at Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, and Liu Jiantao, a Chinese teacher dispatched to the University of Bucharest. The seminar was chaired by Prof. Deng Liming from the Education Section.
Taking into account the actual situation in Romania, Ambassador Liu Zengwen requested the teachers to work on the long-term development of promoting Chinese language and culture in greater scope and depth. The teachers made a summary on Chinese teaching in various parts of Romania and discussed the model and trend of the spread of Chinese language and culture in this country. They decided to strengthen cooperation between Chinese teachers from different regions, co-organize various activities and work hard to cultivate a group of young Romanians proficient in Chinese as a way to support Sino-Romanian exchange and enhance bilateral friendship.
After the meeting, the teachers will attend the preliminary for the 8th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students in Romania.
