Hanban Attends 27th Expolangues Paris

On January 14, 2009, the 27th Expolangues Paris was held in the Paris Expo - Porte de Versailles by the National Students Union of France. The office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) led eight famous publishing houses, higher educational institutions and ten Confucius Institutes in France to attend the exposition.

The black-and-red Chinese exposition area occupying 200 square meters was just in the center of the exposition hall. With characteristic Chinese elements, various Chinese books and video materials, excellent literature and arts performances, the Chinese exposition area became one of the most popular during the activity, winning the attention of the largest number of people present.

Léonard Orban, Commissioner for Multilingualism in the European Commission, the executive body of the European Union (EU), Song Jingwu, Minister-Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in France, Wang Yongli, Deputy Director of Hanban, and Deputy Director General of Confucius Institute Headquarters cut the ribbon together for Chinese exposition.

France TV-5, France Education TV, Voice of France, FRANCEINFO, Radio France International, Europe Times, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV-4, Global Times and more than 20 other media agencies reported on the event and conducted special interviews.

Expolangues Paris will last until January 17.
